Ways To Help You OvercomeThe Fear Of Death. Fear in a large part shapes who we are. Many of the decisions we have made in our past have been shaped by our fears. Overcoming fear is essential to becoming the person we want to be. We do not want to live our life driven hither and to like a ship in a gale because our the fear of death. The fear of death and dying isn't uncommon. Most of us fear death to some degree. It is important to face it and overcome it. One Tibetan Llama one said. “...to die is simple. You breathe out and then you don't breathe back in.” Lets examine some ideas on how to face and overcome our fear of death. Look at life as an ever changing season. Each season of our life has it's wonders and joys. Live your life to the fullest. Like George Bernard Shaw once said, "I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live." Enjoy life and express gratitude’s for everything in it. Be prepared to meet death. Have important documents ready. This will make things a little easier on your family. Make sure your family knows your end of life wishes. Talk to someone about death. Sharing our fear of death is therapeutic for everyone. Just hearing other people express their fears will help you realize how natural it is. Talk to those who don't fear death. Ask them why. Be sure to keep an opened mind since you are seeking change. As Albert Einstein said, “The mind that opens to a new idea never returns to its original size.” I strongly suggest you to read, “Visions Trips And Crowded Rooms” by David Kessler. It is a book of short stories. The contributors have not received any pay or recognition, rather, they have shared their stories in the hopes that the readers will come away less afraid and with a deeper understanding about what happens in our final moments of life. Go and volunteer at a hospice or a palliative care facility. Spend some time with a dying person. Death comes so peacefully. Many people find comfort from the fear of death in their religious faith. Unfortunately, just as many people fear death because of their religious teachings. If that is your case then go out side of the religious system and find your answers about death. There are many spiritual teachers (of all different religions) that teach on life after death. I like what Jesus said in Mathew 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." Search for your answers on death. If the fear of death is so overwhelming please seek professional help.
